What does grace say in the face of anxiety, fear, uncertainty, and worry? What does God say when we fear? How are we supposed to operate in the unknowns that have become our new norm these days?
We unpack three areas in this episode:
- Fear — what it is, where it comes from, and how it manifests itself
- What God says about fear
- What we can do to practically live in grace during a time of global fear and anxiety
Eight Practical Ways to Live out Grace When You Fear
- Every morning commit yourself to the Lord. The Hebrew word for “commit” means to “roll” or “flow.” So tell God, “I am flowing with you today.”
- Keep a journal of God’s goodness and provision.
- Pray. I love what Corrie Ten Boom said, “Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden.”
- Limit who and how much you listen to.
- Say verses about fear and God’s character out loud. (I’ll share verses in my Thursday, 3/26, email. Subscribe here to get it.)
- Talk to someone
- Say “God, you are trustworthy” out loud wherever you are.
- Pay attention to your body. When you feel your heart beating or notice that your breathing is more shallow, ask yourself what you’re thinking about. Then take those thoughts to God. Ask Him to help you sort them out while you take deep breaths.
Key Quotes
The Good Shepherd does not expect His sheep to be fearless. Instead, He loves you, His little lamb.
The question isn’t “When the worries will go away?” The question is “Who will carry the weight of the worries: me or Jesus?”
As one of God’s girls, you don’t have to fear the unknown because You know the character of God.
