INSIDE: Our God is a God of grace and truth. He is infinite and supreme. But what does this mean for us in our busy and full lives? Listen to what it means for our God to be a God of AND.
If you’ve been around the Grace In Real Life podcast long enough, you’ve heard me share that our God is a God of AND:
- He’s grace AND truth
- Mercy AND holy justice
- Love AND perfect judgment
- Man of Sorrows AND Prince of Peace
- Offensive AND attractive
What does this concept of God’s AND-ness mean for our everyday, walking-around lives? This is good and true, but what do we do with it? The reality that we love and worship our God of AND coupled with the truth that we are people of AND impacts three areas:
- How we work out our salvation
- How we live
- How we embrace our humanity
In today’s episode, you’ll learn about the grace and truth of our God, that:
- The grace of salvation is to be received AND lived.
- Christ-followers are not individualistic islands to ourselves but interwoven parts that create a whole.
- Grace calls us higher; to see that life and that our own selves are more nuanced than we ever thought possible. To see that God’s ways are higher and bigger than we could ever imagine.
Grace and Truth
- “Now, if our God is a God of AND, and we are His image-bearers, then we are a people of AND. We are a people of soul AND schedule, doctrine AND daily application, strength AND neediness, healing AND woundedness, human beings AND human doings.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “The grace of salvation is to be received AND lived.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “It is impossible for a true faith in Christ to just be ‘personal.’ True faith is also lived in conjunction with others.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “We cannot be healthy Christ-followers without the spirit of adventure that comes from obeying the Lord with our whole heart. And conversely, we cannot be healthy Christ-followers without the stabilizing ballast that comes from being at the feet of Jesus in silence and solitude.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “As we live in grace, we do not stay stuck in our emotions, nor do we gloss over the truth of what we feel with a Christian-ese platitude. We speak the truth of our emotions AND the truth of where God is in them.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “Grace-givers do not merely believe that belonging to Christ is an exclusive one-on-one relationship but is an all-inclusive relationship with brothers and sisters from around the world and across generations.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “Friend, what if we embraced that we are paradoxes in flesh and blood; women of contradictions, complexities, and nuance? We are women of AND.” – Jill E. McCormick
- “Grace calls us higher; to see that life and that our own selves are more nuanced than we ever thought possible. To see that God’s ways are higher and bigger than we could ever imagine.” – Jill E. McCormick
