INSIDE: Have you ever wondered how the Enneagram can improve your marriage? Listen to Beth McCord as she breaks down how to use this tool.
The first time I ever saw Ryan McCormick was the first day of summer band during our freshman year. He was the cutest boy I’d ever seen.
It wasn’t until our junior year of high school that his guy friends started hanging out with my friends. We all had so much fun on band trips, going to Bennigan’s and Chili’s, and watching movies together. Ryan and I didn’t start dating until our senior year after we’d been friends for over a year.
By spending time together, I realized how different we were. We both loved Jesus and our friends fiercely, AND ALSO,
- He was shy. I… am not.
- He is a man of few words; I’m a woman of plenty.
- Ryan approaches life logically while I wear my emotions on my sleeve.
- He plans so well for the future; I sorta assume it’s all going to work out.
So yeah, very different people who love each other very much, who look at the world through different colored lenses.
You don’t need me to tell you that seeing the same situation through a different lens can cause friction. So what do we do with this? How do we grow in our marriages without getting super annoyed at someone who sees life differently?
